How to experience it
Kanda safaris start slightly later than Jhirna, often around 6:30–7:00 am, because the zone is further from the main gate. The jeep takes longer to reach the core area, so you spend more time on the track. The forest is much denser than Jhirna: sal, khair and scattered grassland patches rather than open meadow.
The pace is slower, with more stops for the guide to listen and scan. Tiger pugmarks, alarm calls from chital and sambar, and the sight of a bear in the distance are the standout moments. Sightings are less frequent than Jhirna but the mood is wilder. The afternoon Safari works similarly but is quieter and emptier.
The drive back is steep in places and can be jolting. Some visitors find the roughness off-putting; others prefer the more remote feel. Bring extra water and be prepared to sit still for long stretches.
