Plan 01
1 day in Abhaneri
- 01
Day 1: Stepwell and temple from Jaipur
Leave Jaipur early, ideally around 7 am, to reach Abhaneri while the courtyard is cool and uncrowded. Spend about an hour at Chand Baori, walking the rim and looking at the facade, then cross to the Harshat Mata temple for twenty to thirty minutes. Have tea in the village, then continue to Bhandarej for a short look at its stepwell before lunch. Return to Jaipur in the afternoon, allowing for highway traffic, and rest before dinner.
Plan 02
2 days in Abhaneri
- 01
Day 1: Abhaneri in the morning
Drive from Jaipur and start at Chand Baori, then visit Harshat Mata temple. Continue to Bhandarej for the second stepwell and a walk through the village. If you prefer a slower pace, check into a heritage stay on the highway side instead of returning to the city.
- 02
Day 2: Bhangarh or an easy day
If you have energy and a driver, spend the day at Bhangarh Fort in Alwar district, leaving early and respecting the ASI sunrise-to-sunset rule. Otherwise, use the morning for a second look at the stepwell in softer light and head on towards Agra or back to Jaipur.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Bhangarh Fort 2–3 hours on site, plus about 1.5–2 hours each way from Abhaneri Moderate Morning, October to March Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Bhangarh Fort: Paths are long, uneven and largely unshaded, with some climbing to the palace ruins. Older visitors should go early, pace themselves and focus on the lower temples and gates.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Abhaneri trip for parents and children
- Go early. The courtyard has little shade, and the stone holds heat well into the afternoon.
- View Chand Baori from the rim. Access to the lower steps is generally restricted, and the steps are steep and uneven where open.
- Carry water and snacks, because there is little available on site and the highway stops are basic.
- Break the long drive. Ask your driver to stop at a clean dhaba or hotel for a rest halfway.
- Wear shoes with grip and carry a hat. Stone surfaces are slippery after rain.
- Confirm opening hours and ticket arrangements locally before committing to a time-sensitive plan.
