The short answer

When to go to Amarkantak

October to February is the most comfortable window for the temples and the waterfall walks, with cool mornings and clear days. The monsoon from July to September fills Kapildhara and Dudhdhara but makes steps and trails slippery, and the roads can be slow. April to June is hot and the falls are thin. Older travellers should avoid midday in summer and carry warm layers for winter nights, when the plateau can be cold. I could not find a reliable station climate table for the plateau, so monthly figures are left blank.
