For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Athirappilly
- Plan one main sight in the morning, a rest after lunch, and only a gentle activity later. The forest road is tiring for older travellers.
- Use a car and driver who knows the route, and carry water, medicines and snacks because services beyond Vazhachal are very limited.
- Check for monsoon closures and weather alerts before you travel; the base viewpoint and forest road often close in heavy rain.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
