Plan 01
1 day at Bageshwar Dham
- 01
Day 1: Early darshan and the road back
Leave Khajuraho, Chhatarpur or Panna early so that you reach the dham soon after it opens, before the day's queue builds. Allow a generous block for darshan and prasad, keeping water, a hat and a small bag. Leave unneeded valuables and phones at the hotel if you can, since photography inside the temple is not allowed. After a simple vegetarian lunch near Ganj, start the return drive in the early afternoon and use the rest of the day for a rest at your hotel.
Plan 02
2 days around Bageshwar Dham
- 01
Day 1: Chhatarpur and Dhubela
Base yourself in Chhatarpur. Visit the Maharaja Chhatrasal Museum and the cenotaphs at Dhubela in the morning, then rest. Keep the afternoon free to rest and prepare for an early start.
- 02
Day 2: The dham in the morning
Drive to Gadha early for darshan, on a weekday if possible. Spend the middle of the day at the dham and nearby for lunch, then return to Chhatarpur or continue to Khajuraho in the afternoon.
Plan 03
3 days: dham, falls and Khajuraho
- 01
Day 1: Arrive in Khajuraho
Settle in at Khajuraho and see the Western Group of temples, including Kandariya Mahadeva, in the cool of the late afternoon. Keep the evening quiet.
- 02
Day 2: Bageshwar Dham
Make the drive to Gadha early. Allow the whole morning for the queue and darshan, lunch simply, and return to Khajuraho by mid-afternoon. Resting is more useful than a second sight.
- 03
Day 3: Falls and the park edge
Spend the morning at Raneh Falls and Pandav Falls, both near the Ken River. If you have energy and have arranged permits in advance, add a safari in Panna National Park, or go on to Panna or Jhansi.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Raneh Falls 1 to 2 hours, plus travel Easy Morning; during or just after the monsoon for fuller water Pandav Falls 1.5 to 2 hours, plus travel Moderate August to November, when the falls are fuller; mornings Panna National Park Full day including travel Easy Cooler months, with early-morning drives; confirm season and closures with the park Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Pandav Falls: The viewpoints are reachable by a short walk, but the descent towards the pool and caves involves steps and uneven ground. Wet surfaces can be slippery; consider viewing from the top.

Pacing
Pacing a Bageshwar Dham trip for parents and children
- Visit on an ordinary weekday in November to February. Tuesdays and special programme days are said to be the busiest.
- Arrive early and plan to be back at your hotel by early afternoon. Queues in the open are tiring in warm weather.
- Carry water, a hat, any medicines, a printed copy of any registration and a small, light bag. Photography inside the temple is not allowed, so a camera is of little use.
- Wear loose, modest clothing and footwear that is easy to remove; shoes are left outside, and the ground can be hot or wet.
- Keep a family member with you in crowds and agree a meeting point. Ask the organisers' volunteers or security staff about wheelchair assistance on arrival, as arrangements are not published.
- Do not pay intermediaries for tokens or fast entry. The organisers state that entry and token processes are free.
