The short answer
Jalan Braga: what visitors should know first
Yes, for a slow evening or morning walk. Go to see the surviving facades and the Bank BJB building, not for sights as such, and expect crowds and some noise at weekends.
History and context
The story behind Jalan Braga
Wikipedia says the street was first called Karreweg and linked the Great Post Road with a coffee warehouse. In 1882 a drama group, Toneel Braga, performed there nightly, which led to stone paving and oil lamps and gave the street its name. After the railway to Batavia opened in 1884, shops, hotels and cafes followed, and Art Deco buildings were added after the street was asphalted in 1906.

Why it matters
Why Jalan Braga is worth your time
Braga explains why Bandung was once called the Paris of Java. Wikipedia says that in the early twentieth century it was described as the most important European shopping street in the Dutch Indies, with shops, hotels, cafes and banks along its length.
Today it is a mix of preserved facades, new cafes and some modern additions that critics dislike. For visitors, it is the easiest place to see the city's Art Deco heritage on foot, and it gives a sense of how colonial society used the street for strolling and shopping.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Start at the Jalan Asia-Afrika end and walk north along the street. Look up at the upper floors, since the ground floors are often modern shopfronts. Wikipedia says about half of the buildings retain their original Art Deco architecture, so do not expect an unbroken heritage row.
Look for the Bank BJB headquarters, the Albert Aalbers building from 1936, and for the 1920s cinema by Wolff Schoemaker mentioned in the same account. Cafes along the street make a good stop for tea or snacks; ask about vegetarian options and check for shrimp paste or egg.
If you can, go on a morning when the street is quiet or in the evening on a car-free day, when Wikimedia Commons photographs show crowds and lights on the street. Daytime heat and traffic on other days make the walk less pleasant.
