Pearl Restaurant, Linaw Beach Resort, Danao: what visitors should know first

Consider it for a special sunset dinner if you can arrange a taxi from Alona. It is a mixed meat and seafood menu, not vegetarian, and our sources are dated, so confirm that it is open and what it serves.

Why it matters

Why Pearl Restaurant, Linaw Beach Resort, Danao is worth your time

Many Panglao restaurants crowd the Alona strip. Pearl is one of the few named in two separate guides that is a short ride away at Danao, on a quieter stretch of coast, which suits a slower evening for older parents.

It is also a clear price step up from carinderia food, so it works best as a one-off celebratory dinner rather than a daily meal. Check the resort's current dining arrangements before you commit, because the sources we opened are not recent and resort restaurants change hours and menus.

Highlights

What not to miss

  1. 01

    Sunset seating

A Bohol restaurant guide describes sunset views. Ask for a water-facing table when you book.

  2. 02

    Seafood platter

The GMA feature lists a seafood platter and barracuda among the dishes.

  3. 03

    Quieter side of Panglao

Danao is about 3 km west of Alona, so the evening is calmer than on the main strip.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

Book for early evening and ask for a seat facing the water. One guide describes Pearl as continental food, including steaks, with sunset views, about 3 km west of Alona Beach. The 2014 GMA feature lists a seafood platter, beef carpaccio, pork tenderloin, grilled chicken breast and barracuda, so expect a meat and seafood menu.

Because it lies outside the main Alona strip, you need a taxi or tricycle each way. Agree the return before you leave, as evening vehicles thin out, and avoid walking the road after dark.

Vegetarian travellers should call first. The dishes we saw are meat and fish, and we found no vegetarian menu, so we have not tagged it. Ask the kitchen what it can do without meat, fish stock or egg, and decide before you travel there rather than at the table.

Plan with confidence

Small checks that make a better meal.

  • Reserve and confirm that the restaurant is open
  • Arrange a taxi both ways
  • Ask the kitchen about meat-free options
  • Check prices before ordering
