The short answer

Persian Palate (Ayala Center Cebu): what visitors should know first

A sensible air-conditioned stop inside a mall if you want plant-based curries or Indian-style snacks. It is a mixed menu, so it is not a pure vegetarian or vegan kitchen, and you should confirm egg and dairy in any dish you order.

Why it matters

Why Persian Palate (Ayala Center Cebu) is worth your time

Finding food that suits a vegetarian or vegan traveller in Cebu usually means asking many questions in a language you may not share. A menu that already groups vegan curries and plant-based salads under their own headings removes much of that guesswork, even if it does not remove the need to check.

The Indian-style dishes, from pakora to dal curries, also make it a gentle option for older travellers who want familiar flavours without a long taxi ride from the Ayala area. It is a mixed Persian menu, so we tag only vegan options and make no claim of Pure Veg or Jain cooking.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

Head to the Active Zone on the third floor of Ayala Center Cebu. The restaurant's own website groups its menu into appetizers, vegan curries served with rice or pita, plant-based salads, vegan favourites, veggie soups and pasta, so start there rather than the mixed grill section.

Indian-style dishes appear by name on the menu, including papadum with mango chutney, veggie pakora, veggie samosas, palak paneer, aloo and onion paratha, pani puri, chana dal and mung dal curry. Note that palak paneer contains dairy and is not vegan, and that individual items are not marked, so ask which dishes are vegan and whether any contain egg, ghee or fish-based stock.

An independent vegan guide rates the vegan labelling as unclear in places and says staff are not always sure of ingredients, so ask calmly and confirm before eating. Hours differ between sources, so check on the day. The branch at Mango Square Mall is an alternative if you are staying near General Maxilom Avenue.

Plan with confidence

Small checks that make a better meal.

  • Ask which dishes are vegan, as items are not marked
  • Avoid assuming palak paneer is dairy-free
  • Confirm the day's hours by phone on +63 32 232 5898
  • Check egg and stock in soups and sauces
  • Use the mall lifts to reach the third floor
