How to reach Chintpurni by air

The nearest airport is Kangra (Gaggal), DHM, about 60-70 km away by road; the temple trust has long listed it as the closest. Chandigarh (IXC) is about 170 km, roughly 3.5 hours by road, and Amritsar (ATQ) is farther. Taxis cover the last stretch.

How to reach Chintpurni by train

Amb Andaura (AADR) is the closest railhead, about 19-20 km from Chintpurni. Una Himachal (UHL), about 40 km or more away, and Hoshiarpur, about 42 km, are the other usual stations. Buses and taxis run from all three; check current train services before booking.

How to reach Chintpurni by road

Chintpurni is reached via Una, Mubarikpur and Bharwain from Chandigarh, or via Hoshiarpur and Gagret from Jalandhar. HRTC and private buses link Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab towns; some Delhi to Dharamshala services stop at Bharwain, about 3 km short of the shrine. Allow about 3.5 hours from Chandigarh.

Getting around Chintpurni

The temple area is walked on foot. Taxis and shared transport link Bharwain and Chintpurni; the trust notes toilets, benches, water taps and a water ATM near the old bus stand. Eligible pilgrims can use electric golf carts between Baba Mai Das Sadan and the temple.

Easy transfers to and in Chintpurni

  • Ask about the priority pass at Baba Mai Das Sadan. Senior citizens, disabled and sick visitors have been offered a nominal-fee pass with an electric golf cart to the temple, about 900 metres away; confirm the current rules on arrival.
  • Beware pickpockets and chain snatchers in the crowd and keep valuables at the hotel. Do not carry polythene bags, which are banned in the complex during fairs.
  • Stay at Bharwain or near the temple rather than commuting from a distance, so early morning darshan does not mean a pre-dawn drive on hill roads.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
