Day 1: Temples and Ramghat
Arrive early morning. Visit Ramghat for the aarti, then drive up to Kamadgiri hill to see the temple at the summit (or walk partway down from the car park if mobility allows). Return to the main temple complex and Janki Kund. Lunch at a small restaurant near the bazaar. In the afternoon, visit Hanuman Dhara temple or Ratan Nath Mandir, which are set in hillier terrain. End at Ramghat again at sunset to watch the light soften over the river. A taxi or auto-rickshaw works if you are not driving yourself.

Pacing
Make the plan work for everyone
- Hire a car and driver for the day rather than relying on autos. Temple sites are spread out, and you will need a comfortable place to rest between visits.
- Plan one major temple in the morning, lunch and a long rest in the afternoon, and a gentle sunset visit in the evening. The parikrama walk around Kamadgiri is optional; you can see the temple by car and a short walk instead.
- The Kamadgiri parikrama is 5–6 km and takes 1.5–2 hours with rests. Older travellers may prefer to walk partway (20–30 minutes) from the car park at the summit, or skip it and visit the temple by vehicle.
- Main temple areas have steps and uneven ground. Wear sturdy walking shoes, carry water and a walking stick if helpful, and do not hesitate to sit and rest between visits.
- Ashram meals are simple and safe; eating from street vendors is riskier. Arrange meals at your ashram or hotel in advance.
- Note the timings of aartis (evening prayers) at each temple; they are usually brief (20–30 minutes) and start at dusk. Attending one or two is part of the experience, but not mandatory.
