How to reach Dibrugarh by air

Dibrugarh Airport (DIB) at Mohanbari is about 15 km east of the city centre, usually a short drive by taxi. It has connections to major Indian cities including Guwahati, Delhi and Kolkata; check current airlines and schedules.

How to reach Dibrugarh by train

Dibrugarh station (DBRG) at Banipur is the main railhead on the Lumding-Dibrugarh line, on the outskirts of the city. Dibrugarh Town station is closer to the centre. Long-distance trains from Guwahati and beyond run here; check current services.

How to reach Dibrugarh by road

Dibrugarh is linked to the rest of Assam by national and state highways, with buses and taxis from Guwahati, which is about 450 km away. Tinsukia, Digboi and the eastern parts of the district are reached by NH315 and associated roads.

Getting around Dibrugarh

Autos and taxis work in town, but a hired car with driver is best for Raidongia Doul, Namphake and the parks. Ferries cross the Brahmaputra, and the Bogibeel Bridge now links Dibrugarh with the north bank.

Easy transfers to and in Dibrugarh

  • Use a hired car with driver for everything beyond town; the roads are flat but the distances are long, so plan one excursion a day.
  • Carry water, a hat and any regular medication on day trips, since pharmacies and clinics thin out quickly outside town.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
