Lamiya Bay: what visitors should know first
Worth a short stop if you are staying at Kalipur or starting the Saddle Peak trek. It is a pebble bay, not a swimming beach, and takes under an hour. Go in the morning, and sort out the return ride before you go.

Why it matters
Why Lamiya Bay is worth your time
Lamiya Bay shows how closely forest, sea and fishing life sit together in North Andaman. Behind the shore is Saddle Peak National Park, and the bay itself is a working landing place rather than a resort.
It is a modest sight and is best taken as part of a morning with Saddle Peak or Kalipur. For visitors who value quiet places without facilities, it offers a view of the coast as it is.

How to experience it
Lamiya Bay lies about 2 km from Kalipur beach, at the foot of the Saddle Peak path, so the simplest way to see it is to combine it with the trailhead or a Kalipur day. The shore is covered in pebbles and fragments of coral rather than fine sand, which gives it a different character to Kalipur.
Local fishing is the main activity, and there are a few turtle hatcheries nearby. Walk the shore slowly, look at the forest closing in behind and the island offshore, and do not disturb nests or hatcheries.
Buses from Diglipur run roughly every half hour on the road, but a ride back is not always easy to find, so ask your driver to wait or agree a pick-up time.
Plan with confidence
Small decisions that make the visit easier.
- Arrange return transport before you go
- Carry water, as there are no shops
- Leave turtle hatcheries undisturbed
