Plan 01
1 day in Hyderabad
- 01
Day 1: Charminar, bazaars and biryani
Begin early at the Charminar, climbing the steep stairs if you are fit, or viewing from outside if not. Walk to the Mecca Masjid steps and spend 45 minutes exploring the surrounding textile and spice bazaars—Laad Bazaar for bangles and ornaments is close. Have a light breakfast of parathas or dosas at a old-city café, then return to your hotel for a long rest and cool drinks. In the late afternoon, head to the Hussain Sagar lake waterfront for a walk or boat ride as the light softens, then return to the old city for your main meal: Hyderabadi biryani or haleem at a well-established restaurant. End the evening with a quiet walk through dimly lit bazaars if energy permits, or an early rest.

Plan 02
2 days in Hyderabad
- 01
Day 1: Old city morning, lake and bazaar evening
Start at the Charminar at dawn for clearer light and fewer crowds. Climb the minarets or view the facade from across the street, then walk to the Mecca Masjid and into the old city bazaars. Spend an hour in Laad Bazaar for bangles and in the textile lanes, but do not try to see everything—the old city rewards slow exploration. Return to your hotel by noon for a long lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, head to the Hussain Sagar lake promenade or take a boat ride, then have an early dinner of biryani or kebabs at a heritage restaurant in or near the old city.
- 02
Day 2: Golconda Fort and a temple or garden
Leave early for Golconda Fort, roughly 11–15 km from the old city. Park at the lower gate and either take a short vehicle ride or walk uphill to the middle gate, where the steeper climbing begins; allow three to four hours for the fort and its multiple layers of walls and gates. The views from the higher levels are excellent, but skip the highest points if stairs concern you. Return to the city by early afternoon and head to one of the quieter spots: the Sri Venkateswara Temple at Ameerpet for its cool interior and devotional life, or the Falaknuma Palace gardens if you prefer heritage and views. Finish with a light dinner and rest.

Plan 03
3 days in Hyderabad
- 01
Day 1: Old city, Charminar and bazaars
Begin at the Charminar at dawn, climb if you are able, then walk through the surrounding old city. Spend a full morning in the textile, spice and jewellery bazaars—Johari Bazaar, Laad Bazaar, Begum Bazaar—moving at a slow pace and stopping for a traditional breakfast of parathas or uppittu. Return to your hotel by late morning for a long rest and hydration. In the late afternoon, visit the Chowmahalla Palace, a short distance from the Charminar, for a glimpse of the last nizam's lifestyle and architecture. End with biryani at a well-known old-city restaurant.

Day 2: Golconda Fort and Falaknuma Palace
Leave early for Golconda Fort, taking a vehicle partway up if the weather is hot. Spend the morning exploring the fort's gates, walls and views, taking breaks in shadier spots. Return to the city for a long lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, visit the Falaknuma Palace, a smaller palace with a steep climb but stunning views over the city. The interiors show nizam-era furnishings and craftsmanship. Have a light dinner near Banjara Hills or the lake area, away from the crowds of the old city.
- 03
Day 3: Temple, garden and lake finish
Start the morning with a visit to the Mecca Masjid or, if you prefer a temple, the Sri Venkateswara Temple at Ameerpet or the Jagadish Temple in the old city. Afterwards, explore the Falaknuma Palace gardens more leisurely, or visit the Nizam's Museum at the Purani Haveli if you have not yet seen palace interiors. Have a relaxed lunch at a heritage restaurant or café overlooking the Hussain Sagar lake. In the late afternoon, take a boat ride on the lake or simply walk the promenade. Finish with a final biryani dinner or, for something lighter, a dosa at a popular local spot like Sailu's.

Pacing
Make the plan work for everyone
- Visit the old city early—before 9 am—to avoid crowds, heat and the rush of autos and motorbikes. Charminar at dawn is clearer and quieter.
- The Charminar's interior stairs are steep and narrow. View the facade from the street or a nearby café if climbing is not comfortable.
- Golconda Fort involves real climbing, but a vehicle can take you partway up, and you can rest in shadier spots. Start early to avoid afternoon heat.
- Plan around rest and hydration: one major sight in the morning, a long lunch and cool rest indoors until 4 pm, then a gentle evening activity. The city is hot even in winter.
- Hire a car and driver for the full day rather than autos. It gives you air-conditioned rest between sights and avoids the physical toll of waiting for transport.
- Chowmahalla Palace is level and indoors, with excellent interiors and less climbing than Golconda. Ideal for a quieter heritage morning or afternoon.
