History and context
The story behind Alasia Hotel
Sources say the building was constructed in 1873 and used as a bank until about 1930. In 1938 C. J. Tidwell bought it, and permission to convert it to a hotel was granted on 4 November 1941. He named it after an associate, Pearl Alasia.
It later passed through several owners. Further details were not verified.

Why it matters
Why Alasia Hotel is worth your time
Alasia is one of the few buildings in Kasauli that tells the story of the cantonment era through its own history: a bank that became a hotel and changed hands several times. It provides a heritage stay in the heart of town.
For travellers, the value is location and character rather than luxury. It suits those who want to step out onto the Mall, but it needs careful questions about stairs and facilities.

How to experience it
Alasia sits on the Mall, so you can walk to Christ Church, the Heritage Market and cafes without a taxi. The building dates from 1873 and began as a bank before conversion to a hotel in the early 1940s.
The hotel currently offers 13 suites in luxury, deluxe and family categories. Ask about floors, heating and bath access, as older buildings vary. A central base also makes it easy to retreat to your room between sights.
Book early for weekends and holidays, and ask about taxi arrangements for Manki Point and the Gilbert Trail. Because the town is small, a stay here lets you do much of Kasauli on foot.
