The park has two main zones: dry forest dominated by teak and sal trees, and grassland where deer and leopards hunt. The Pandava River runs through, and you may see crocodiles or gharials (fish-eating crocodiles).
Tiger sightings are rare (the reserve was depleted and is still recovering), but leopards, sloth bears, wild boar and sambar deer are more common. Birdwatching is excellent. Stop at viewpoints to scan the landscape and listen. Your guide will interpret the habitat and animal signs.
Bring binoculars, sunscreen and water. The ride is bumpy and dusty. Return for a late breakfast or early lunch. An evening safari is possible but less productive for tiger country.
