The short answer
Masila Falls: what visitors should know first

Why it matters
Why Masila Falls is worth your time
Masila is the waterfall most people can actually reach on this hill. After the physical demands of Agaya Gangai, it fills an important gap: a family-friendly cool-water stop with parking and a path.
It also shows the hills' way of life: a small shrine, local visitors bathing, and fruit sellers outside, none of it polished. It is a good place for a slow picnic-style stop between the more demanding sights, and a reminder that not every worthwhile place in the hills has to involve a long climb.
Highlights
What not to miss

- 02
The concrete path
A built path makes this the easiest waterfall on the hills.

Masi Periyasamy temple
A small hilltop shrine above the falls with wide views.
Plan your visit
How to experience it
Drive to the parking area and walk down the concrete path to the falls. The descent is much shorter than the Agaya Gangai stairway, which is why families with children and older relatives choose it. Allow time at the bottom for the cool water, and keep to the shallower pools.
At the top, a temple to Masi Periyasamy overlooks the area and gives scenic views. Visit it before or after the falls rather than rushing between them.
The flow depends on the season. After rain the fall is loud and the spray reaches the path; in dry months it is gentler and the pool is calmer. Whatever the season, wet rock is slippery, so wear shoes with grip and avoid climbing on boulders for photographs. Carry a towel if you plan to bathe.
Plan with confidence
Small decisions that make the visit easier.
- Wear shoes with grip, not sandals
- Bring a towel and change of clothes
- Avoid bathing after heavy rain unless locals say it is safe
- Keep children away from the edge
