For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Mandu
- Hire a car or auto for the whole day. The plateau is wide, and a vehicle gives you a place to rest and carry water.
- Stay inside the fort if possible, so you can use the hours of best light and avoid a long drive back to Dhar or Indore.
- Carry water, a hat and shoes with grip; stone steps can be slippery in the rains.
- Medical facilities in Mandu itself are limited. Carry regular medicines, and plan to use Dhar or Indore for anything serious.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
