For parents and senior travellers

Easy transfers to and in Manikaran

  • Wear shoes that come off easily and carry socks for the hot marble floors; the approach and steps are often wet from steam.
  • Allow extra time for the valley road from Bhuntar. Rain and landslides can delay it, so avoid late-evening drives.
  • Carry a light jacket and rain cover even in summer; mornings and evenings at this altitude are cool.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
