The short answer
Gurdwara Sangat Sahib: what visitors should know first
A good second-day stop for those who want depth, not essential on a short trip. Go for the shield relic and the old-town atmosphere. Come in the morning and plan your route in advance.

Why it matters
Why Gurdwara Sangat Sahib is worth your time
Sangat Sahib shows the practical side of the Guru's last months: paying soldiers, looking after a displaced community and settling a camp. The shield relic gives a physical anchor to the story, and the gurdwara also points to a Sikh presence in Nanded that, according to local tradition, predates the Guru's arrival.
For travellers, it is one of the less crowded shrines on the circuit and offers a calmer, more local feel than the main complex. It makes sense on a second day, with Mal Tekdi. Seen together with Mal Tekdi, it also explains why the Nanded circuit is more than one building: each site is a chapter of a single story.

How to experience it
Come by rickshaw or car from Hazur Sahib; the old-town lanes are best not walked in traffic. The gurdwara sits on the Godavari bank in Ganipura, and the Board's site describes it as around two miles from the main shrine, though other sources place it in the old town closer to the centre, so confirm the route on arrival.
Inside, join the line for darshan and ask a sevadar to show the relic shield. Local belief, repeated by the Board and by Holidify, says treasure found at Mal Tekdi was distributed here among about 300 warriors, each receiving a shield full of valuables. One shield is kept as a sacred relic.
Guru Gobind Singh is also said to have stayed here when he first reached Nanded, and the Board's site says he paid back wages to soldiers who had come with him from Punjab.
