Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Nelliampathy trip for parents and children
- Take the ghat road in daylight and in dry weather; the road has many bends and little lighting.
- Prioritise Pothundi Dam, Kesavanpara and the government farm; leave the Minnampara trek to fit travellers.
- Seetharkundu involves a rough approach and uneven ground, so go slowly, use a local jeep and wear shoes with grip.
- Carry a light jacket, even in March; the hills are cooler and often misty.
- Book your stay ahead and confirm meals, as eating options are limited.
- Avoid the monsoon, when the road can be slippery and views vanish.
