For parents and senior travellers

Easy transfers to and in Parasnath (Shikharji)

  • Carry your own food, water and a light shawl; the hill has no meal facilities and the ridge is cold before dawn in winter.
  • Wear well-fitting, broken-in shoes or go barefoot only if you are used to it; carry a stick for the descent.
  • Carry a torch, as the route has no lighting, and keep to the paved track in the dark.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
