Pacing

Pacing a Ratlam trip for parents and children

  • Ratlam city sights are mostly level and short; keep them to the cooler morning and evening.
  • Hire a car and driver for Sailana. Roads and signage are patchy, and local people may not know the sanctuary location well.
  • Carry water, sunhats and any medicine; facilities at the sanctuary and garden are basic.
  • Visit between November and February if you can; April to June is very hot.
  • Temples require removing footwear; carry socks for hot floors and keep a dry cloth for wet monsoon paths.
  • Ask your hotel for a clean, busy namkeen shop and a vegetarian lunch place; avoid raw street items.
