Plan 01

1 day in Trimbakeshwar

  1. 01

Day 1: Temple, tank and samadhi

Leave Nashik early so you reach Trimbak by around 7 am. Start at Kushavarta Kund, watch the morning ritual, then join the queue at the Trimbakeshwar temple while it is short. After darshan, walk to the Nivruttinath samadhi, take a thali lunch in town and rest. If energy allows, climb Neel Parvat in the late afternoon, or head back to Nashik before the evening traffic.

Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.

    Day 1: Town on foot

Arrive in the morning, visit Kushavarta Kund and the Trimbakeshwar temple, then rest through the middle of the day. In the afternoon, visit the Nivruttinath samadhi and walk through the lanes near the temple. End with the evening atmosphere around the temple.

Day 2: Gangadwar or Neel Parvat

Start at sunrise. If you are fit, climb to Gangadwar on Brahmagiri for the Godavari's first spring. If not, take the shorter Neel Parvat steps for the view of the town. Return for a late lunch and head back to Nashik.

Gangadwar1.5-2.5 hours including the climb and returnDemandingEarly morning

Pace: Gangadwar involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.

With parents at Gangadwar: The route is one long run of concrete steps, reported at around 750, with limited seating on the way. Older visitors with knee or heart issues should consider whether to go; take it slowly with rests, or stay in town.

Day 3: Neel Parvat and Anjaneri

Take the shorter Neel Parvat climb in the early morning, then drive to Anjaneri hill on the way back to Nashik for the Anjani Mata temple and the Jain caves if energy allows.

Pace: Anjaneri Hill involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.

With parents at Anjaneri Hill: The climb to the plateau combines old and new steps and a rocky ascent, followed by about ten minutes of walking to the Anjani Mata temple. It is a demanding hike for older travellers, and the monsoon makes it slippery.

Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Trimbakeshwar trip for parents and children

  • Visit the temple on a weekday morning outside Shravan; queues can run to many hours on Mondays and festival days.
  • Choose temple, Kushavarta and the samadhi as your core: all are on flat ground in town. Treat Gangadwar, Brahmagiri and Anjaneri as optional.
  • Wear footwear you can slip off easily, and expect bare stone underfoot; carry a thin mat or socks for hot surfaces.
  • Ask the temple staff or your hotel about the senior-citizen queue or paid-pass option before you join the general line.
  • Carry water, a hat and any medicines, since the queue can be long and shade is limited.
  • Hire a driver for the day from Nashik so you have a place to rest and keep belongings between stops.
