For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Tura
- Plan the long south trip to Siju and Balpakram with an overnight stay; the drive is about four to seven hours each way on rough roads.
- Hire a car and driver for the whole stay. Public transport to waterfalls and parks is limited and uncomfortable.
- Carry water, snacks and any regular medicines; facilities on the longer drives are few and hospitals are in Tura.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
