Day by day
- Day 1 — Arrive, settle in, easy old-city evening
Pickup from Jaipur airport or railway station in a pre-booked private cab and drive to a hotel around MI Road, C-Scheme or the old city edge, chosen for your family's room needs. Keep the afternoon free to rest and unpack — travel days tire children and grandparents more than anyone expects. Around sunset, take a short drive to the walled city for a first look at Hawa Mahal's facade from across the road, followed by a snack stop for pyaaz kachori or sweets. Back at the hotel for an early dinner; nothing on the plan runs past 8:30 pm.
- Day 2 — Amber Fort morning, lunch pause, City Palace afternoon
Leave around 8 am to reach Amber Fort before the heat and the tour-bus crowd build up; the drive from central Jaipur usually takes 30–45 minutes. Plan two to two-and-a-half hours inside with a licensed guide, and use a jeep or cab to the upper entrance rather than climbing the ramp on foot if anyone tires easily. Stop at Jal Mahal's lakeside viewpoint on the way back for photos. Lunch and a proper two-hour rest at the hotel. In the late afternoon, visit City Palace at an unhurried pace — its courtyards have benches and shade — and end the day with dinner nearby.
- Day 3 — Jantar Mantar, bazaars and an optional cultural dinner
Start with Jantar Mantar, ideally with a guide who can turn the giant instruments into stories children remember; mornings are better because the site has little shade. Walk or take a short cab hop to Johari Bazaar for jewellery and textiles, keeping the shopping window to about 90 minutes so it stays fun. Lunch and rest at the hotel through the hottest hours. In the evening, choose between a relaxed dinner in town or a visit to Chokhi Dhani, a village-themed cultural venue on the city's southern edge; allow 40–60 minutes each way by cab and expect a late-ish return.
- Day 4 — Slow breakfast and departure
No alarms today. Enjoy a slow breakfast, pack at leisure and, if the departure time allows, fit in one short stop — a sweet shop for gifts or a quick return to a bazaar item you were considering. The cab is timed to reach the airport or station with a comfortable buffer, since Jaipur traffic can be unpredictable at office hours.
