Plan 01
1 day in Addu Atoll

Day 1: Gan and the Link Road
Start on Gan with a slow walk or cycle round the old RAF area near Equator Village, including the Commonwealth war graves and the old cannon and cinema relics. Ride or take a taxi along the Link Road over the Sunset Bridge towards Feydhoo and Maradhoo, stopping for tea at a local cafe. Rest through the hot early afternoon and use the last light for the causeway views.

Pacing
Pacing a Addu Atoll trip for parents and children
- Do outdoor sights in the first hours after sunrise; midday sun and humidity on the open causeway are tiring.
- Ride a bicycle only on the flat Link Road in cool hours; use a taxi or bus for the full length of about 14 to 16 km.
- Dress modestly outside resorts and on local beaches: cover shoulders and thighs, including when you swim.
- Take travel insurance and a few days of regular medicines. Addu has a regional hospital and some clinics, but serious cases go to Malé or overseas.
- Ask your resort or guesthouse for a written vegetarian or Jain meal plan before arriving, and pack snacks for flights.
- Sea trips for the wreck and mantas can be rough in the wetter months; if you are unsure on boats, ask for a calm-day snorkel instead.
