Plan 01
1 day in Alibaug
- 01
Day 1: Kolaba Fort and the beach
Start early at Kolaba Fort and spend about two hours exploring the ramparts, the small mosque inside, and the British-era barracks. Time your visit with the tides so you can walk the beach to reach the fort (check timing locally). Return to town for lunch at a seafood restaurant near the bazaar—try pomfret fry or crab curry. In the late afternoon, walk the main beach, browse the bazaar for local crafts, and finish with chai on the beach as the light softens.

Plan 02
2 days in Alibaug
- 01
Day 1: Kolaba Fort, beaches and the bazaar
Morning at Kolaba Fort, timing the tides to walk across the beach if possible. Spend two hours inside, then return to town for a seafood lunch. Rest during the hottest part of the afternoon. In the late afternoon, walk the main bazaar, visit the small Jagdish Mandir near the beachfront, and end on the beach with chai.
- 02
Day 2: Beach walks and a fort day trip
Hire a car and driver for the day and visit either Murud-Janjira Fort (an island fortress requiring a short boat ride, about 45–60 minutes away) or Raigad Fort (a much larger and longer trip, 2+ hours one way, best as an overnight). Alternatively, stay local: walk to Alibaug's quieter northern beaches, visit the small temples scattered around town, and take a boat trip if available from the harbour. End with dinner at a local restaurant.

Plan 03
3 days in Alibaug
- 01
Day 1: Kolaba Fort and the town
Timed visit to Kolaba Fort in the morning when the tides allow a beach walk. Spend a relaxed morning inside, then lunch at a seafood restaurant. Afternoon rest. Evening walk through the bazaar and chai on the beach.
- 02
Day 2: Boat trip and temples
Early visit to Jal Vihar (if open) or a simple fishing village boat trip to see the Konkan coastline. Morning visit to one of the small temples around Alibaug—Kankeshwar Temple (a short drive away) or a local deity temple in town. Lunch and rest. Late afternoon at the beach.
- 03
Day 3: A nearby fort and relaxation
Full day trip to either Murud-Janjira Fort (an hour away, featuring a dramatic sea fort accessible by boat) or, for a shorter visit, explore Rewas or nearby coastal villages. Return for a final seafood dinner and evening on the beach. Pack light—Alibaug's rhythm is unhurried.

Pacing
Make the plan work for everyone
- Stay near the beach or bazaar to avoid long auto rides. Distances in Alibaug are short, but taxis can be sporadic.
- Kolaba Fort has uneven ramparts and steps. Allow 2–3 hours, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. If stairs are a concern, skip the upper levels and enjoy the lower grounds and beach approach.
- Eat seafood with confidence—it is fresh—but ask for less spice if you prefer milder curries. Stick to bottled or filtered water.
- Afternoons are very hot from March to May. Plan indoor time or rest at the hotel between 1 and 4 p.m., especially if travelling with older family members.
- Nearby forts (Murud-Janjira, Raigad) involve longer car rides and boat trips. Pick one, not both, in a single day. A guide at each fort helps with stories but adds cost.
- Hotels often have limited hot water in cold months (December–January mornings). Ask your hotel in advance about bucket hot water availability.
