Hotels we have written about

Hotels in Baa Atoll for families and seniors

  1. 01

    Dusit Thani Maldives

Mudhdhoo, Baa Atoll, about 123 km from Malé · Island resort · Price band: ₹₹₹₹

A Thai-managed resort on Mudhdhoo island in Baa Atoll. It is notable for opening a fully vegan restaurant, SALA, in November 2024.

For older travellers: Resort islands are flat, but ask about distances, villa access and seaplane or speedboat transfers. Older travellers should ask for ground-level rooms and a cart to the restaurant.

  2. 02

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru

Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, about 130 km from Malé airport · Island resort · Price band: ₹₹₹₹

A luxury resort that occupies the whole island of Landaa Giraavaru and runs a marine discovery centre. It suits families who want one island with food, a doctor and a house reef.

For older travellers: The island is small, about 600 m by 200 m, flat and sandy. Transfers by seaplane involve steps and small cabins, so mention mobility needs when booking, and ask about buggies and shaded seating.

  3. 03

    Soneva Fushi

Kunfunadhoo, Baa Atoll · Eco luxury resort · Price band: ₹₹₹₹

One of the Maldives' earliest luxury resorts, opened in 1995 on Kunfunadhoo in Baa Atoll. It is known for sustainability work and for a resident astronomy observatory.

For older travellers: Island resorts are flat, but distances on a large island add up. Ask about transport, step-free villas and shaded seating, and check seaplane boarding for mobility needs.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
