Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Bageshwar trip for parents and children
- Base in Kausani for more comfortable hotels and visit Bageshwar and Baijnath as a day trip.
- Visit Bagnath early on a weekday; Shivratri and the Uttarayani fair bring very large crowds.
- The valley is hot in May and June; plan temple visits for early morning.
- The glacier treks are long and demanding; older parents can stay in town while others trek.
- Avoid July and August, when landslides are common on Kumaon hill roads.
- Carry medicines and keep a copy of prescriptions; specialist care is far away.
