How to reach Banswara by air

There is no airport in Banswara. Udaipur's Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) is the nearest major airport, roughly 160-165 km by road, about 3-4 hours depending on traffic and road works. Ahmedabad (AMD) and Indore (IDR) are alternatives for some itineraries but are farther.

How to reach Banswara by train

Banswara has no passenger railway yet; the Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam line is under construction. The usual railhead is Ratlam Junction (RTM), about 80 km away, with buses and taxis onward. Dungarpur and Udaipur also have stations; check current options before booking.

How to reach Banswara by road

Banswara is linked by road to Udaipur, Ratlam, Indore and Ahmedabad. State (RSRTC) and private buses run, but a hired car is more comfortable for the long drives. Allow extra time in the monsoon.

Getting around Banswara

Autos and shared vehicles work within town, but sights such as the dam, Tripura Sundari and Arthuna are spread out. A hired car with a driver who knows the district is the practical way to get around.

For parents and senior travellers

Easy transfers to and in Banswara

  • Hire a car and driver for the whole trip. Distances between sights are long, public transport is thin and a vehicle gives you a place to rest.
  • In the monsoon, hill paths and village roads can be slippery or washed out. Check conditions locally before a long drive.
  • Carry medicines, water and snacks; medical facilities are in town and thin on rural roads.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
