Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Betalbatim Beach trip for parents and children
- Choose a stay within a few hundred metres of the beach or with a shuttle; soft sand makes even short walks tiring.
- Sit in a shack or café with a fixed table and shade, not on a sunbed in direct sun; ask for a regular chair with arms.
- Swim only where lifeguards are on duty and the flags are green, and keep out of the sea in the monsoon.
- Plan beach time for early morning and late afternoon, and rest at midday; temperatures stay around 31 to 33 degrees in the dry season.
- Leave the beach before dusk; local boards advise visitors to leave before about 7:30 pm, and the lanes are poorly lit.
- Hire a taxi or driver for Margao and Colva and agree the fare in advance; buses are infrequent for the last stretch.
