Why it matters
Why Kechki Sangam is worth your time
Kechki shows the river geography behind the reserve. Without the Koel and Auranga, there would be no forest corridor or wildlife habitat in this part of Jharkhand.
It is a modest stop but a useful one for older or time-pressed travellers who want a calm look at the landscape before or after a safari. It also gives children and elders an easy, low-effort break during a long day of driving, with no climbing or queues involved.

How to experience it
Kechki fits on the Daltonganj-Betla road, so stop on the way in or out. Walk to the riverbank, look at the junction of the two rivers and take photographs in good light.
The Auranga forms the northern boundary of Palamau Tiger Reserve, and the North Koel its western boundary, so this is an easy way to see the rivers that shape the landscape.
Carry your own water and snacks, avoid swimming and keep valuables safe. Winter mornings are best, and monsoon water makes the banks risky. Allow about an hour, and ask your driver to wait.
