Why it matters
Why Sri Rama Navami Kalyanam is worth your time
Rama Navami at Bhadrachalam is among the most important dates in the Telugu pilgrim calendar. The wedding re-enacts Rama and Sita's marriage, and the state's presentation of pearls and silk follows a long tradition connected with the Golconda period.
It also shows what the town is for. Everything else here, from the lodging to the roads, is sized for ordinary days; the festival is when the temple fills to capacity.

How to experience it
The wedding is the centrepiece of the Brahmotsavam. In 2025 the morning began with ritual worship, the deities were carried in procession to the Kalyana Mandapam at the Mithila ground, and the marriage took place in the Abhijit Lagna, with the mangalsutra tied amid Vedic chanting. Government officials present pearls and silk on behalf of the state.
Expect a very large crowd, many from nearby Andhra Pradesh and across Telangana, heavy security and long distances on foot. If you plan to attend, arrive early, wear light clothing, and agree a meeting point with your group.
If crowds are a concern, consider visiting during Brahmotsavam on a less intense day, or at another time of year when the temple is calm.
