Day 1: Park at dawn, fort in the afternoon
Be at the Keoladeo National Park gate at opening time and hire a rickshaw with a trained guide. Spend the morning on the main track, stopping at the Keoladeo temple for tea. After lunch and a rest, visit Lohagarh Fort and the government museum inside, then end with the Ganga Mandir at dusk.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Bharatpur (Keoladeo) trip for parents and children
- Hire a cycle rickshaw with a trained guide at the park gate rather than walking or cycling; it saves energy and finds more birds.
- Winter dawns are cold; bring a warm layer and a hat, then shed layers as the day warms.
- Keep the fort and museum for the afternoon, when you can rest between them and the park.
- Carry water and a snack into the park; amenities are limited, and the canteen is only near the central temple.
- Ask your hotel about ground-floor rooms and car access, since heritage buildings may lack lifts.
- Take a break at midday from April to October; the heat and humidity are serious.
