For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Bhimtal
- Hire a taxi for the day so you can see the lakes without climbing; the lakeside road and the dam walk are level and enough for many visitors.
- Hill roads from Kathgodam have bends. If anyone gets motion sick, ask the driver to stop at viewpoints and travel in the morning.
- Carry cash and any medication; ATMs and pharmacies are limited outside Bhimtal town.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
