Why it matters

Why Royal Indian Curry House is worth your time

Indian restaurants on Boracay are few, and the island's best-known Indian name in guidebooks, True Food, was reported closed in 2020. A restaurant that was open in 2023 and reviewed in detail is useful to Indian visitors who want rotis, curries and lassi after several days of seafood and international menus.

It is also placed on Station 1, near the quieter, more upscale end of White Beach, which helps if your hotel is there and you would rather not walk to D'Mall. Treat the details as a starting point, because the only review we opened is from 2023. It carries no Pure Veg or Jain claim, and the Indian tag reflects only that it is an Indian restaurant.

How to experience it

A food blogger who walked along Station 1 found Royal Indian Curry House and ordered four dishes that give a fair picture of the menu: Murg Tikka Butter Masala, chicken tikka in a tomato and onion gravy; a Hyderabad biryani with lamb ribs and cubes cooked on dum; palak paneer, cubes of paneer in spinach; and mango and sweet lassi to drink. The blog says the menu has plenty more dishes.

If you do not eat meat, the reviewed vegetarian dish is the palak paneer. The post does not label any other vegetarian items, so ask the staff what else is made without meat, and about onion and garlic, which the tikka gravy itself uses. Nothing we read says the kitchen is separate for vegetarians, so do not assume it.

Order rice or bread alongside the curry and share dishes across the table, since portions at restaurants on the beachfront are often built for sharing. Confirm prices on the menu, because the 2023 prices in the review may have moved.

Plan with confidence

Small checks that make a better meal.

  • Confirm opening hours, last checked in a 2023 review
  • Ask for the full vegetarian menu
  • Ask about onion and garlic if you avoid them
  • Check current prices
