The short answer
Smoke Resto: what visitors should know first
Go if you want to try everyday Filipino dishes at reasonable prices without a resort setting. Expect meat and seafood, and ask how each dish is cooked; vegetarians will find the choice limited.

Why it matters
Why Smoke Resto is worth your time
Boracay's restaurant scene leans towards Western menus and resort dining. A place that several independent guides recommend for everyday Filipino food at modest prices is useful for a family that wants to taste the local cooking without paying beachfront rates.
It is also a good counterweight to the more expensive options on the strip. If you are travelling with older relatives, a relaxed lunch of soup and rice can be easier than a long dinner, though you should confirm how spicy and how salty dishes are and whether a particular broth suits your health needs.

How to experience it
Three guides we opened name Smoke. Wikivoyage lists it under D'Mall, down an alley opposite the Lemon cafe, with local dishes, meat and seafood, omelettes and sandwiches. My Boracay Guide lists Smoke Resto at Station 2 for affordable Filipino dishes. The Discovery Shores blog says it serves Filipino food at reasonable prices, is known for its bulalo, and has another branch on the main road.
Bulalo is a beef shank and bone-marrow soup, so it is not for vegetarians. If you do not eat beef, ask the staff what else the kitchen does well; Wikivoyage mentions omelettes and sandwiches, which are simpler options. We could not open a menu, so do not assume any dish is meat-free, and we have given it no diet tag.
Because there are two branches, check which one you are heading to. Choose the main-road branch if the alley in D'Mall sounds awkward for anyone who walks slowly.
Plan with confidence
Small checks that make a better meal.
