How to experience it
Shegaon is a village in Buldhana district, and the Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan manages the temple complex. The saint is said to have first appeared in Shegaon around 1878 and to have taken samadhi in 1910. His samadhi mandir lies below the Shri Ram temple, and a sacred fire is kept burning nearby.
Go early, join the queue calmly and allow time for the complex. The trust is known for running it with discipline, and visitors report clean halls and organised queues. Shegaon station is on the Mumbai-Howrah line, but many trains stop only a few minutes.
The trust also developed Anand Sagar, a large park of over 650 acres, in 2005. It is a pleasant, shaded extension of the visit for families, though hours and fees should be checked.
