Why it matters

Why The St. Regis Goa Resort is worth your time

This property opened in 1991 as The Leela Goa and was rebranded as The St. Regis Goa Resort under Marriott in October 2022. For many years it was the landmark luxury address in Cavelossim, and its grounds define the southern end of the beach.

Its value for visitors is practical. The sandbar position gives an unusual mix of river and sea, the estate is large and quiet, and the lagoon network makes it feel more like a village than a hotel. It is also a reference point for the area: neighbouring shacks such as Manas and Pearl's sit beside its boundary, so even if you stay elsewhere, it is a useful landmark and a place for a special meal.

How to experience it

Stay here if you want to spend most of your trip within one estate. The resort sits on the Mobor sandbar, so you have the sea on one side and the Sal on the other, with a network of navigable lagoons between and a long stretch of beach. Guests move between areas by golf buggy or boat.

Dining ranges from Miri, an all-day restaurant, to Oliveto for Italian and Riverside for Pan-Asian on the Sal bank. Susegado, a Goan-Portuguese seafood grill, is seasonal. There are three pools, including a 45-metre main pool, a spa and a 12-hole par-3 golf course.

If you are not staying, ask about booking a table at a restaurant or the afternoon tea. Confirm what is open, as some venues are seasonal, and ask what the booking policy is for non-guests.

Plan with confidence

Before you book the room.

  • Book restaurants as a non-guest in advance
  • Ask about buggy transfers
  • Check which venues are seasonal
