Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Chitradurga trip for parents and children
- Visit the fort at opening time; mornings are the most comfortable and the stone heats up quickly.
- Choose the lower and middle sections if the full climb is too much; the upper levels involve steps and uneven stone.
- The fort is not wheelchair-accessible, so plan alternatives such as Chandravalli's lake for travellers who cannot climb.
- Carry water, a hat and any regular medicines; shops inside the fort are minimal.
- Wear shoes with good grip; the stone paths are worn and can be slippery after rain.
- Hire a car for day trips to Jogimatti and Vani Vilasa Sagara; public transport is infrequent.
