Why it matters
Why Vani Vilasa Sagara is worth your time
Vani Vilasa Sagara is a landmark of early 20th-century irrigation in Karnataka. It can store 30 tmcft of water and irrigates over 100 square kilometres in Hiriyur taluk, and it also supplies drinking water to nearby taluks.
For visitors, it is a quiet, open place away from the fort, with room to walk and look at water. It suits travellers who want a change of pace. Allow time to sit quietly, look closely at the surroundings and read the landscape, because the value of this stop is atmosphere and context more than any single object, and it fits easily into a slow day.
