Why it matters
Why Raja Bojun is worth your time
A buffet is a low-risk way to meet Sri Lankan food for the first time, particularly for a group with different tastes. Two guides we opened name Raja Bojun for this reason.
The downside is the floor-level plate carrying and the lack of published detail on lift access or seating. For older travellers, check that before you go, and choose an early lunch when it is quieter.
If you travel with someone who eats little, a buffet also lets them take a spoonful of several dishes instead of committing to one full plate.

How to experience it
Time Out places Raja Bojun on the fourth floor of Liberty Arcade in Colombo 3 and describes a buffet that changes daily, with chicken, crab and prawn curries, parippu (lentils), papadam and kavum with curd for dessert. Another guide describes a buffet of 30 or more popular Sri Lankan dishes, many of them vegetarian, plus an a la carte menu, and says it is good for large groups.
The mix helps vegetarians, since a buffet lets you see what is on offer, but a restaurant that also serves meat and seafood may share counters and spoons. Ask staff how the vegetable dishes are prepared before relying on them. We do not tag it as vegetarian.
Take a small first plate to test the heat of the curries. Return for more of what you like, and save room for the curd and kavum.
