Why Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Tenkasi is worth your time

How to experience it
Visit in the morning or early evening, when the daily rituals take place. Wikipedia gives four of them, at roughly 8.30 am, 11.30 am, 5.30 pm and 8 to 9 pm, but treat these as approximate and confirm locally. The 180-foot gopuram, with seven tiers, was completed in 1990 and replaced an earlier flat tower.
Inside, the granite walls enclose shrines to Shiva as Kasi Viswanathar, Parvati as Ulagamman and others including Vinayaka and Subramanya. Walk the concentric enclosures slowly and look at the pillars, some of which were added by the Vijayanagara kings in the early 1500s.
