Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Cuttack trip for parents and children

  • Keep sightseeing to mornings and late afternoons; April to June is very hot and the monsoon is heavy.
  • Choose the Netaji museum, Barabati Fort and the maritime museum for level, easy visits; skip the Dhabaleswar footbridge if mobility is limited.
  • Avoid Durga Puja nights and Bali Jatra evenings unless you want the crowds; go on a weekday afternoon if you must.
  • Eat at busy stalls, order half plates and use bottled water to avoid stomach problems.
  • Hire a car with a driver for Dhabaleswar and day trips; autos are fine in the city but have no air-conditioning.
  • Check museum closing days; the main museums are closed on Mondays.
