Da Lat airport and railway station
- Airport
- Lien Khuong Airport (DLI), about 30 km south of the city. Domestic routes serve Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi; check current schedules and operating status before booking.
- Railway station
- Da Lat has a handsome 1930s station, but we could confirm only a short tourist train to Trai Mat. For travel to and from other cities, use flights or buses.
- Getting around
- The centre is walkable but hilly. Grab cars and motorbike taxis, local taxis and a local bus to main sights cover the rest. Self-drive motorbikes need a valid Vietnamese licence and are not advised.
How to reach Da Lat by air
Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) is about 30 km south of Da Lat. Wikipedia lists domestic routes to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and a route to Kuala Lumpur, but also notes a period of suspended operations, so check current status. We found no direct flights from India, so most Indian travellers connect through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, or fly to Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh City and continue by road.
How to reach Da Lat by train
Da Lat has no practical intercity railway for visitors. The 1930s station survives as a heritage site, and a short tourist train runs about 7 km to Trai Mat. For other cities, use buses or flights.
How to reach Da Lat by road
Wikivoyage reports buses from Ho Chi Minh City taking about 7 hours, longer in heavy traffic, and from Nha Trang about 4 to 5 hours. The roads wind through the hills, so choose a daytime coach or a pre-booked car if anyone is prone to motion sickness.
Getting around Da Lat
The centre is walkable but hilly. Grab cars, local taxis and motorbike taxis cover most trips, and a local bus serves some sights from Hoa Binh square. Wikivoyage warns that renting a motorbike requires a valid Vietnamese licence and that insurance can be void without one.

Easy transfers to and in Da Lat
- Pace the day. The centre is walkable but hilly, so take a taxi for return trips and rest in the afternoon.
- Carry a light jacket and a warm layer; mornings and evenings are cool, and rain can arrive suddenly in the wetter months.
- Buy travel insurance that covers medical care and evacuation. Ask your hotel about the nearest clinic or hospital on arrival.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
