Area by area

Da Nang neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    My Khe Beach strip

Best for: Families who want sea views and a resort feel

Good to know: Hotels and resorts along the beach range from mid-range to luxury; you are a short taxi ride from the centre, and many properties have pools, breakfast buffets and lifts. Check the walk to the sand and the quality of vegetarian breakfast options.

  2. 02

    Han River and city centre

Best for: Travellers who want to walk to the market, museum and promenade

Good to know: Hotels close to the river put you near Han Market, the Cham museum and Dragon Bridge. They are convenient for sightseeing and evening walks, but the beach is a taxi ride away, and rooms in older buildings can be small.

  3. 03

    An Thuong and My An

Best for: Longer stays and cafe-goers

Good to know: A grid of streets between the city and the beach with many cafes, apartments and plant-based restaurants. It is handy for vegan diners, though some lanes are narrow and the area is spread out.

  4. 04

Son Tra and the north end

    Best for: Quiet resort stays

Good to know: Resorts on Son Tra Peninsula and the northern beaches are calmer and greener but far from the centre, and you will rely on a car or ride-hailing for meals and sights.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
