Vadodara (BDQ) is the nearest airport, about 78 km away, and Ahmedabad (AMD) is about 90 km away with more flights (district tourism gives these distances). Allow roughly two hours by road from either, traffic dependent.
How to reach Dakor by train
Dakor has its own station on a Western Railway line served by MEMU trains. Most visitors use Nadiad Junction (ND), about 35 km away on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai main line, or Anand Junction (ANND), about 43 km by road.
How to reach Dakor by road
Dakor is in Thasra taluka of Kheda district. Private and GSRTC buses run from Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Anand, and the roads from Nadiad and Anand are the usual car routes.
Getting around Dakor
The temple, lake and bazaar are close enough to walk. Rickshaws help for the Lakshmiji temple and on hot days, and a hired car or taxi is the easiest way to reach Galteshwar and nearby towns. Roads near the temple may be regulated on busy days.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Dakor
- The sanctum is reached by marble steps and the hall fills quickly; ask staff on the day about the easiest approach for elders and wheelchair users.
- Leave footwear and bags in the cloakrooms, and carry water, medicines and a small bag only.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
