Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Dakor trip for parents and children

  • Visit on a weekday outside Purnima, Ekadashi and festival days; the queues and crowd push are very different.
  • Take the first morning darshan, then rest; the sanctum is reported to close for a long midday break.
  • The sanctum is reached by marble steps and the hall fills quickly; ask staff on the day about the easiest approach for elders and wheelchair users.
  • Leave footwear and bags in the cloakrooms, and carry water, medicines and a small bag only.
  • Book lodging near the temple in advance, especially around full moon, and check for lifts and drop-off.
  • Confirm darshan timings on ranchhodraiji.org or with the trust office before you travel.
