Why it matters
Why Nidan Waterfall (Singrampur) is worth your time
The falls give the district's forest country a dramatic centrepiece in the rains. They sit close to Singrampur, a town associated with the final battle of Rani Durgavati and the Mughal commander Asaf Khan, so a visit fits easily into a day of history and scenery.
Outside the monsoon the falls are modest, so timing matters.
It also fits naturally with Singorgarh, since both lie on the Singrampur side of the district. A day that combines the hill fort and the falls gives a sense of both the history and the landscape of this forested corner, and the water is the main reason to schedule the visit for the monsoon months.

How to experience it
Drive to Singrampur on the Jabalpur side of the district and ask for the road to the falls, which lie about 5 km from the town near Bhainsa village. A stream drops more than 30 metres between high black rocks, and the spray and noise are strongest in July and August.
Keep well back from wet rock, and do not let children near the edge. Wear shoes with grip, and avoid the area after heavy rain when the stream swells quickly.
By September and October the flow drops, and the falls become a picnic spot. Pair the trip with Singorgarh Fort and the nearby Durgavati sites to make a full day.
Plan with confidence
