- Bhanpura Museum (Culture and craft · 30-60 minutes) — A local museum like this is usually level and short, with limited seating. It is a gentle stop for older travellers after a long drive.
- Gandhi Sagar Dam and Reservoir (Places to visit · 1-2 hours) — Viewing areas near the dam are mostly level and short walks are enough. There is little shade, and facilities may be limited, so carry water and take care near edges and steps.
- Pashupatinath Temple, Mandsaur (Places of worship · 1 hour, plus a long drive) — The area around the temple is usually level, but queues, steps and crowds on festival days can be demanding. Go early and avoid major festivals.
Some walking — plan a break (2)
- Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary (Places to visit · Half a day to two days) — Roads inside are motorable but long and the terrain is dry and exposed, with few rest points. Boat trips on the Chambal can be easier than walking, but facilities are basic and medical facilities are limited.
- Hinglajgarh Fort (Places to visit · 2-3 hours, plus the drive) — The fort involves uneven ground, gentle climbs and long stretches without shade or seating, and the road in is remote. Fit older travellers can manage the temple and nearest gates slowly; others may prefer to see only the temple area.

- Chaturbhuj Nala Rock Shelters (Places to visit · Half a day) — Reaching the shelters involves rough ground and walking in a remote area, with no seating or shade. It is not suited to older visitors or anyone with limited mobility without specific local advice.

Small decisions
Practical tips for Gandhi Sagar
- Heat. April to June is very hot, with daytime highs around 40 C. Plan outings for early morning and rest through the afternoon.
- Monsoon. July and August bring heavy rain, and tracks to Hinglajgarh and the rock shelters can be slow or impassable.
- Getting around. Bring your own vehicle or a hired car; there are no registered safari jeeps reported, so plan fuel and routes carefully.
- Fuel and supplies. Fill up at Bhanpura before heading to Hinglajgarh, and carry water, food and basic medicines.
- Permissions. Ask the Mandsaur forest division about access, boat trips, treks and any permissions before you travel.
- Wildlife etiquette. Keep to authorised tracks, stay quiet, and never approach or feed animals; cheetah areas may be restricted.
- Money. Carry cash; ATMs and card machines are scarce near the dam and fort.
- Mobile coverage. Signal can be patchy in the forest, so download maps and tell someone your route.
